Parish Council News Wedgwood Memorial College
Stoke on Trent City Council has included the closure of Wedgwood Memorial College amongst a large list of measures it is proposing to take to reduce costs in order that it can manage within the resources available in 2012 forward. The Parish Council has considered its position with regard to this important estate in the centre of the village and has indicated to the City Council that in its view the land should be the subject of a community asset transfer for the benefit of the wider local community. The Chairman of the Parish Council has had meetings with Members and Officers of the City Council to make these views known.
The Parish Council would wish to work with all parties involved in saving and developing the college and it is also keen to obtain representative views from within the village as to the best way forward.
It is understood that the City Council will take a decision on all the measures proposed at a meeting planned for 23rd February
